David Alton Hamiter Sr.

David A Hamiter Sr., 73 passed from this earthy life gently in his sleep at his home in Sedro Woolley, WA on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 with his wife, Tana Rose at his side. He graduated from Kilgore High School, TX. After graduation, and a term in the Army, he married Linda Cooley and they had four children. David Hamiter Jr, Rick Hamiter, Jon-ese Pearson and Felisa Hoglund. They lived in TX but moved north to Anacortes, WA. There he continued work in the Trades. David remarried in April 11, 1984 and with his wife Tana moved to Kirkland, Hawaii, Vashon Island, following construction jobs, finally settling in Sedro Woolley, where he continued to work Pipe Fitting, Union 26. After retiring from Pipefitting he joined the NW Local Labors and worked for several more years before retiring at 68. David enjoyed his extended family, friends, Baha’i activities, drumming circles and working with many of his Native Friends, organic gardening, swimming in the 0icy mountain rivers, camping, and hiking. Dave was active with the Sedro Woolley Food Bank: hauling and stocking supplies as well as bringing trunk loads of organic produce each season that he and Tana grew together, helping Girl Scout Troops for15+ yrs. and being a Foster Parent for many teens in need of a good home and guidance. Dave also sponsored children in other countries through Children’s Christian Fund. Dave was always quick to reach out a helping hand, take into his home (which he called Unity House … meaning all people need to be nice and get along together), helping those with mental disabilities or just plain needing a place to settle for a while getting their life together. Many friends called him “Giving Heart” as a nick name and it was well deserved. As able he was active in the Naraya community as a Fire Tender, Sacred Circles and with the Svaha community. Where ever he went, he was always folding origami frogs which represent abundance, saying “may you have an abundance of friends, health, love and laughter”. That brought him another nick name of Frog Man Dave. David was of the Baha’i Faith and he believed deeply of the Unity of All Mankind. Dave leaves Tana, his wife of 28 years, his brother Frank Hamiter, Sisters Ruth Long, Madge Best and Helen Beshea ,his daughters Felisa Hogland (Grandchildren Cameron, Madilyn, Gunner and Gaard ) and Jon-ese Pearson (Grandchildren James and Emma), Sons Rick Hamiter (Grandsons Jacob and John) (Granddaughter Rachael and Great-granddaughter Eve),( Annie) and David Jr. (Grandsons David and Phillip). He also leaves his Step-daughter Kim (Grandson Raven and Granddaughter Kylea with Great-granddaughter Ella), Step-son Drake Neff with Granddaughter Khloe). He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Jean Cleck and Linda Sue Hamiter, both parents, Dave and Gladys Hamiter. His grave side service: July 1st, 2 pm on Vashon Island, WA. Gifts in his name may be sent to: Christian Children’s Fund, PO BOX 26507, Richmond, Virginia 23261-6507 (This can be either as a gift in his name or even to start sponsoring a child).
