Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Paul was the oldest of six children born to Edith & Ray Aspiri. He moved to Vashon Island in the first grade and was raised on Vashon in the Glenacres Area. As a youngster Paul loved to play tricks on his siblings and neighbors, ask Ed Babcock! He was a Cub Scout and in High School active in Key Club. Paul loved to boat, fish, camp, hike, read and play baseball. Go Firemen! He was married to Pamn Salyer, they had two children, Briana and Ryan. He lost his daughter in a tragic horse accident in 2005. Paul first worked for the Wall Flower, delivering flowers for Myrtle and Larry Walls. He helped them start The Garden Wall in Vashon Thriftway. At Thriftway under the guidance of Jan & Norm Mathews, he started as a box boy. He worked into the store manager of Vashon Thriftway. Paul’s strong work ethic, compassion, and ability to inspire, made him Store Manager for many years. Paul was made “Manager of the Year” for the entire Northwest Region more than once. He moved to the East Coast in 2003 and managed grocery stores for Magruders over the past nine years. Upon learning of his death, Magruders hosted a “Celebration of his Life” with 24 hour notice. Paul’s store was in a large Jewish Community, with 4 synagogues. He had taken the time to learn their holidays and kosher needs, endearing him to his many customers. They referred to him as their Catholic/Jew! His vacation time was always spent with family here in the Seattle area and in Jamaica with his sister. Paul always put his family first, often at a minutes notice he would announce “gotta go”! We were blessed that his employer honored this. Paul is survived by his son Ryan and son-in-law Max Chwaszczewski, His parents, Edith and Ray, his siblings, Gary (Mitzi), Tressa, Karen (Randy Heit), Mark (Jennifer), John (Debbie), his nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Jarem, Kramer, Spencer, Madison, Tylor, Austyn, Justin, Wyatt, Carmen and Kathleen. The mother of his children, Pamn, his dear friends, Patricia and Skyler Lawson, and Paul Blake, along with many life long friends from his childhood, and many new friends on the East Coast. Remember Paul’s love, laughter and the thoughtful ways he shared with us.
