John Joseph KlobAugust 10, 1930 ~ March 24, 2017 (age 86)
John Klob, born on August 10, 1930, passed away on Mar 24, 2017. His wife of 61 years, Marilyn Klob and his daughter, Elizabeth Klob, were with him when he passed, peacefully while listening to his favorite music. He was in hospice care at Vashon Community Care Center.
John was a quiet man, born in Chicago to second generation Czechoslovakian immigrants. He served in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star. He returned home to get his accounting degree at DePaul University on the GI bill, married and raised a family. He was a devout Catholic and believed in the literal meaning of Christian Charity; working in prison ministries and the Salvation Army for numerous years. He loved animals and was devoted to his canine companions, and they to him. He and Marilyn moved to Vashon in 2003 to join their only daughter and 2 grandchildren whom he adored; Madeleine and Rowan Schroeder. John and Marilyn joined the parish family at St John Vianney’s on Vashon where they found a strong and supportive community to share their love of volunteer work. We will miss you Dad, you are alive in our memories. Services will be held at St John Vianney’s on Saturday April 8th at 11am. Donations in John’s memory can be directed to St Vincent DePaul Society and VIPP.
