- About Us
On Saturday August 24th, 2019 Larry Epley, husband and father of two, grandfather of 3, passed away in his home at the age of 70. He was born to Everett and Margureite Epley in Vallejo, California on April 23, 1949 and was the sixth of eight children. In 1990 Larry married Trish, a marriage that brought him a large extended family and a busy fulfilling life.
As a career truck driver, first for Consolidated Freightways then K2 and finally KCDOT, Larry loved road trips. Larry and Trish bought their second motorhome in 2016 and it was Larry’s happy place. You could often find him napping in it parked at their house. In August 2018 they took it on their last big trip to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Jackson, which were some of Larry’s favorite places.
Larry loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed camping, golfing, horseback riding, hunting and working around their 5-acre property. All these activities were only made his favorite by the friends and family who shared them with him.
Larry was a gift to all who knew him. No one could liven up an event or occasion like Larry. His humor and wit were unmatched, possibly because he was always the loudest one in the room, but still unmatched. No one was a bigger smart aleck than Larry, he could make just about any situation funny and enjoyable.
He always had a positive outlook on things and didn’t let 30 years of battling polycystic kidney disease, two kidney transplants, daily dialysis, countless surgeries, or cancer break his spirit.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Patricia, son Anthony, daughter Cheyanne, grandson Benjamin, granddaughters Seleana and Reyna, siblings Leo (Judy), Lillie, Joyce, Phil (Jackie) and Kathy (Ben), sisters-in-law Laura, Nicole (Robert) and Rachael (Michael), mother-in-law Mary, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Everett, mother Margureite, sisters Judy and Linda, and half-siblings Everett Jr., Shirley, George and Marilyn.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Vashon Sportsman’s Club on Saturday September 7, 2019 at 2 o’clock pm. Potluck dessert. Must bring great stories and memories to share.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Larry’s name to NW Kidney Center or Island Care Closet.
