Bella Warner passed peacefully unto our lord on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Vashon Community Care Center. She was born in Eckley, California August 29, 1919 and married Robert E. Warner in 1939 near San Francisco. On December 4, 1941 they were visiting Bob's family in Seattle and preparing to return to California, when it was announced that Pearl Harbor had been attacked, postponing their return. They remained in Seattle beginning Bella's nearly 70 years as a resident of West Seattle, of which she was very proud. After helping the war efforts by working in a local saw mill while the troops were fighting overseas, Bella and her husband Bob moved to Alki Beach, first living in an apartment over the Richey's Seaside Pharmacy and later buying the small houses next door (site of the present day Starbucks). Bella worked for many years behind the counter of the Seaside Pharmacy, in the beginning at the soda fountain and in later years at the front register. Many generations of Alki children remember her fondly. Bella and Bob moved near the Alaska Street junction in 1978. In 1980, she lost her beloved Bob after 40 years of marriage. She grieved deeply for a couple of years, but soon regained her joy of life with the help of her family and many friends in West Seattle. She joined the West Seattle Senior Center becoming very active in the activities including the annual bake sales and Dixie Land Jazz organization, of which she followed performances all over Washington State. She was an avid fan of the Mariners, regardless if they were winning or losing. She is survived by sister Emily (Bill) Foust and family in American Canyon, CA and brother Fred Maria of Crockett, CA. Brothers John Maria and Manuel Maria preceded Bella in death. She is survived by nephew Thomas L. Plucinski, Sr. and his wife Katie, her devoted care givers over many years. Also surviving niece Connie Schick, great nephews Anthony W. Plucinski, Thomas L. Plucinski, Jr. and Robert E. Plucinski. A Memorial was held at Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home September 3rd.
