Brett Douglas Ryberg
August 9, 1951 - September 21, 2026
Brett Ryberg, born August 9, 1951 in Glendale, CA to John and Pauline Ryberg, passed away September 21, 2026 at his home after a brave battle with prostate cancer. He was 75. Brett grew up in Whittier, CA, where he enjoyed surfing with friends at a number of beaches along the California coast. On August 20, 1973 Brett married Linda Curro, a fellow student from La Serna High School, after first meeting there in 1966. Brett received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University at Long Beach. He and Linda moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1975 where they lived in Coeur d'Alene and Cocolalla, ID and Spokane, WA. Brett was a Purchasing Agent, initially with several electronics companies until he spent most of his career purchasing for Spokane County. Upon retirement, Brett split his time between Coeur d'Alene, ID and Vashon, WA, where he liked to swim, bike, hike on local trails and enjoy relaxing near water in the sun with a good book. Brett loved sailing with his father, and daughters in the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands, as well as vacationing at numerous warm and sunny locations in Hawaii, Caribbean Islands and Mexico. Brett loved animals and the environment and was an avid supporter of organizations which supported these issues.
Brett was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline, his step-mother Wanda Ryberg and his sister, Sharon Moller. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ryberg; daughters Angela (Jourdan) Marshall, Erika (C.J.) Jarreau; grandsons Henry Marshall, George Marshall and Carter Jarreau; brothers Greg (Rose) Ryberg, Jim (Brigitte) Ryberg, Brother-in-law Russell Moller; and his loving rescued Basset Hound Polly.
Brett loved a simple life where his family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed following his grandsons' sports activities and interests. Brett was quiet, calm, tolerant and easy to be around. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that you honor Brett by contributing to an animal rescue of your choice.
