Carol Jeanne Martenson passed away peacefully in her sleep FridayOctober 14,2016. Carol had just turned 69 years old. She was born on September 4, 1947 to Dorothy Jeanne and LeRoy Martenson in Portland Oregon. Carol was raised in Portland Oregon and then Seattle Washington. She was the second of eight daughters. She attended high school at Chief Sealth Highin West Seattle. She later graduated from Brigham young university with a degree in Art Education and a minor in English. Carol spent many years working with troubled teens at a school in Brigham City UT. Carol was a talented artist and taught art in the Seattle School District for many years. Although she never married she was surrounded by a large and loving family. Carol was remembered by many for her kindness and generosity. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Within that organization she was a beloved teacher and mentor and she served faithfully in many callings. One of her favorites was teaching gospel doctrine class. But she also served in the primary and scouts and young women's organizations. Carol was a much loved sister and aunt and a good friend to so many along her lifelong path. We feel lucky to have known her and will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Jeanne Thompson Martenson and LeRoy Victor Martenson as well as a brother in law Randy Stout and nephew James Dunkley. She is survived by her seven sisters. Dodie Barlow (Bruce) Nevada, Diana Dunkley (Ralph) Utah, Margaret Rogers (Ray) Idaho, Sara Perry (James) Utah, Karen Beagles Utah, Jana Trenck (Mike) Denver, and Jeanette Stout Utah. Along with a great manynieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 22, 2016.
LDS Stake Center 14020 Ambaum Blvd SW, Burien, WA 98166
11 AM There will be no viewing and no grave side service. We welcome all friends and family close to Seattle to attend.
Graveside Service Saturday October 29th at 1 pm. This will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden Utah. We welcome all her friends and family close to Utah to attend this service.
Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
