Carolyn passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on the morning of Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Santa Cruz, California. Born December 19, 1931 in Seattle, Washington, she was the oldest of three children to Herbert Fredrick B. Price and Evelyn Ida Nelson. Her brother Robert preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by her brother James and both brother's families. She is also survived by her three sons: Philip, Paul, Andrew, and their families.

After graduating in 1949 from West Seattle High School, Carolyn attended the University of Washington where she affiliated with Sigma Kappa and graduated with a BA in Fine Arts. Carolyn then earned her Masters in Art History at Mills College in Oakland, CA. In September of 1954 Carolyn married Melburn Clark Dyer Jr. who preceded her in death in 2014.

Carolyn was gifted with the spirit of creative adventure and dedicated her life to enriching the world through her visual creativity in tapestry design and weaving. She shared this passion not only through weaving, but as a teacher, writer, painter, docent, exhibitor, gallery manager, and photographer. Carolyn's works are represented in private, public, and corporate permanent collections.

Carolyn was the third generation in her family to enjoy living on Vashon. She loved to sail, entertain friends, play the piano, and enjoy the view of Mount Rainier from the deck of the cottage at Shawnee Beach with her husband Clark. Carolyn attended the Church of the Holy Spirit where her ashes will rest in the memorial garden next to Clark's.

Sincere thanks to the staff of Sunshine Villa and Hospice of Santa Cruz for the care of Clark and Carolyn and also to Andrew and Jenifer Dyer who lived close by and visited regularly.

A memorial will be held on July 23, 2016 at 12:30 in the Church of the Holy Spirit, and a gathering to celebrate her life will follow throughout the afternoon at SW 117thSt., Vashon.
