Obituary

Catherine I. [Kay] Larsen 96, passed away peacefully at Island Elder Care on Vashon Island September 10, 2015. Kay was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Everett and Elsie [Kelf] Joy on June 24, 1919 and moved to Washington State the following year.



She attended Ronald Elementary and Lincoln High schools. Kay worked in the concessions on Washington State Ferries for 25 years. She also worked for Sears Roebuck Company in Seattle and Kimmel's Shoprite at Bank Road and Vashon Hwy. Kay enjoyed knitting, crochet and various crafts as well as numerous camping, fishing and the annual hunting trips to eastern Washington. She loved visits with her grandchildren. Kay volunteered for many years at Grannies Attic on the Island.



Kay was preceded in death by her husband Earl Larsen, her parents, brother James Joy, grandson Martin H. Larsen and great grandson Nicholas King.



She is survived by her children, Bonnie [Albert] Steele of Alaska, Mindy [Kelly] McHugh of California, Robert [Jan] Larsen of Vashon, Debi Larsen [Greg Slaseman] of Oregon and Keith [Krystal] Larsen of Michigan. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildrenand her sister Josephine Frances of North Carolina as well as many nieces and nephews.



Private family service will be held at a later date.
