He wasa kind natured, humorous, goodhearted man who was alwayswilling to go above and beyond tohelp friends and family in any wayhe could. He was a people person,who loved connecting with friendsold and new.Chris worked for Vashon Sand & Gravel driving cement mixer anddump trucks for over 35 years. Chris took great pride in his workand community. His strong work ethic and friendly spirit set himapart from the ordinary. He would often joke how there was probablynot a driveway on this island he hadn't delivered material down.Chris enjoyed wrenching on classic cars and boats. A participantand enthusiast of the annual 4thof July Hydro race, competingseveral times from 1976 to asrecently as 2012. He won in 1985,engraving the trophy "Victory atlast" and again in 1989. He sharedhis passion of the hydro planesport with his son, Mitchell whotook over driving their boat in 2013and 2014.As the sadness of his untimelypassing grows into the sunrise ofhis memory, the family is planninga celebration of Chris Van Buskirkat the Vashon Sportsman's Club, January 10th at 1:00 pm.The family is requesting friends, acquaintances, and coworkers tocome together for a casual potluck celebration in his honor.Chris is survived by his wife Kelly, son Mitchell, daughter Shelby(Philip) Middling and granddaughters Makena and Layla Middling,brother Earl Van Buskirk, Nephew Jeff (Tina) Van Buskirk ofVancouver, WA. Niece Jennifer (Rick) Bonaventura, Sister Carol(Ken) North_ eld of Port Orchard, Niece Tonya (Kyle) Hathawayof Port Orchard, and many great nieces and nephews. Chris wasproceeded in death by his parentsWarren and Shirley Van Buskirk.In lieu of _ owers please considera donation in Chris's name to theVashon-Maury Island HeritageMuseum.To know him, was to love him.We will miss him deeply._
