Cordie de Steiguer passed away peacefully with her son at her side, at Vashon Community Care, Vashon Island, Washington on September 18, 2017 at the age of 102.

Cordie was born on a farm in Hillsboro, Texas on August 21, 1915, the third daughter of seven children of Rosa and Charlie Boyd. She married Allen Bryan de Steiguer of San Marcos, Texas on October 31, 1942. After World War II, she and Allen lived in Lampasas, Texas, operating a successful construction company. They moved to Vashon Island in 1991 to be near their son, Allen and his family. Although it was late in their lives, Cordie and Allen built their home and joined the Vashon community, where Cordie enjoyed the library, almost weekly visits to James Hair Design, and made many new friends at various Island businesses. Cordie enjoyed needlepoint and keeping her flower garden. In 2016, Cordie moved to Vashon Community Care, made many new friends, and enjoyed the loving care and companionship of the staff at VCC.

Cordie is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Allen (1914-2004). She is survived by a sister, Helen Easterwood, Hillsboro, Texas, and a brother, Ray Boyd, Fredericksburg, Texas; a son, Allen, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie de Steiguer, of Vashon Island; three grandchildren, Nicholas de Steiguer of Seattle, Alexandra de Steiguer and her husband Phillip Wetmore, and Jacqueline Davis and her husband Jason, all of Portland, Oregon; and three great grandchildren, Juniper de Steiguer, Vivienne Davis, and Silas Davis.

Interment will be at Vashon Island Cemetery on Saturday, September 23.
