Lifelong islander, Erick Ericksen, 63, passed away from pneumonia, December 15th, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.Born to Leo and Dorothy (Mauritson) Ericksen, he was raised on Vashon.He was a sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division and served in Vietnam in 1971 then married Elaine Frazier in 1973 and they had three daughters. He worked in the floral business from age 15; first at Beall's Greenhouses then with Denver Wholesale Florists until 2004; he then spent his remaining years surrounded by family and friends at home.Erick was a kind, gentle, loving man who enjoyed chatting with people wherever he went.He spent many hours every year in his garden and every summer in Burton at the family beach house.He loved and was loved by his wife of 38 years, Elaine, his daughters, Michell (Joe) Kline, Allyson Ericksen, Erica (Isaac) Castro, his grandsons, Joshua and Nolan Castro and Max Kline, sisters Tena Palmer and Carolyn Kramps as well as numerous friends and extended family. To know him was to love him and he will be greatly missed. There will be a celebration of Erick's life on January 29th at 2pm at the Sportsman's Club for any who would like to join us.
