Obituary

Gerald Joseph Bourque Gerald "Jerry" Bourque, a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 27, 2010 at the age of 92. Born on July 1, 1918 to Jovite and Theresa Bourque, he was the oldest of 8 children. Raised and educated in Providence, Rhode Island, he married Violet Inman in 1947 and they moved to Tacoma in 1953. He worked at Precision Machine Works for 29 years, retiring in 1986. A gifted artist and musician, he enjoyed drawing, painting, woodworking, and playing the organ, keyboard, harmonica, and violin. He was preceded in death by his wife Violet, brothers John Bourque and Louis Bourque, sisters Marie Lamers, Frances Sullivan, and Phyllis Piazik, all of Rhode Island. He is survived by daughters Diane Honeywell (Mark) of Seattle and Jan Barnes of Vashon, grandson Matthew, granddaughters Julie and Jaime, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Antoinette Johnson (Robert), West Warwick, RI, Yvonne Piazik, Cranston RI, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Clyde Addison for years of excellent care, and Vashon Community Care Center and Providence Hospice of Seattle for their support and loving care of Jerry during his last weeks. A private celebration of his life will be held. Donations suggested to Catholic Community Services Senior Nutrition Program or Providence Hospice of Seattle. Arrangements by Island Funeral Services.
