Obituary

James C. Scott, 95, of Burton (Judd Creek), WA, passed away peacefully tended by hospice at Vashon Community Care Center on November 7, 2015. In his last few days he had been surrounded by his beloved family. "Jim" was born in North Bend, WA, the youngest child in a family of nine children, where his lifelong love of the outdoors and hunting and fishing began. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1939 and after serving in the military joined The Boeing Company in 1943. After a distinguished 35 year career at Boeing, he retired in 1978 to start his second career, in real estate as a broker on Vashon. Jim, wife Elaine, and family moved to Vashon in 1963 where they built a home on their Judd Creek property located just upstream from the bridge, purchased 5 years earlier. True to his outdoor roots, Jim quickly got involved with the Vashon Sportsmen's Club, was elected President soon thereafter and ultimately became the oldest serving member of the club. In more recent years Jim was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and always a volunteer for the festival pancake breakfast and Senior Christmas dinner programs. Besides the outdoors, Jim loved to play cards with his family and friends, especially poker, another lifelong passion. Jim is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Gary Wallace and Gary Robert, daughters Pamela Marie Scott and Charlene May Connolly, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Any contributions to the Vashon Island Sportsmen's Club would be appreciated.
