Obituary

Jane Dunlap LieserJane Dunlap Lieser passed away on March 5, 2010 at Swedish Hospital. She was 89 and two days old. A native Seattleite, Jane was born March 3, 1921, grew up in Lake Forest Park, and attended the University of Washington where she was affiliated with Chi Omega sorority. At the UW she met and married Donald L. Thompson and was active with the Red Cross and the war bond movement while Don was in the Air Force in WWII.

After the war, Jane became the mother of two, Christine and Stuart, and the family resided in Seattle. She was active with the Episcopal Church and in area garden clubs and boating. When Jane and Don divorced, she was re-introduced to Dr. Miles Lieser who she had dated in college. The couple married on July 11, 1969 and Jane moved to Vancouver, Washington with Miles. In Vancouver, Jane was a member of the Portland Japanese Garden, an avid golfer and worked with Hospice as well.

Jane and Miles moved to Vashon Island, Washington in May 2004 to be closer to their children and spent their last two years together at Vashon Community Care. They had been married 40 years at the time of Miles's death.

Miles Robert LieserMiles R. Lieser, DDS, passed away on October 6, 2009 at Vashon Community Care. He was 90 years old. Miles was a native of southwestern Washington and attended North Pacific College of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon. He joined the US Army as a dental surgeon in 1944 and spent his service years in Germany where he took many wonderful photographs in his spare time.

Returning to United States, Miles met and married Maradee Gatchell. The couple had two children, Maradee (Missy) and Ralph, and lived in Vancouver, Washington where Miles practiced dentistry. After Miles and Maradee divorced, he married Jane Dunlap Thompson and the couple resided in Vancouver until moving to Vashon in 2004. He was a member of the Royal Oaks Country Club, Vancouver Gyros, The Elks and the Navy League. On Vashon, both Miles and Jane were members of the Vashon Golf and Country Club and Vashon Athletic Club.

Together Jane and Miles are survived by daughters Christine Beck and Maradee (Missy) Lieser, son Stuart G. Thompson, III, and grandchildren Jordan Beck and Raven Wheeler

A memorial service for both Jane and Miles will be held at Vashon Community Care on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by Island Funeral Service of Vashon. Please send any contributions in their names to Vashon Community Care.
