Janet was born to Dr. Karl J. May Jr. and Donna Hafer May in Chewelah Wa.She died peacefully at home on Vashon with her family and pets by her side, after a brief illness.She lived most of her life in the Seattle area.She attended school in Seattle until her senior year, when she attended and graduated from Chewelah High.She attended college in Bellingham.Janet married Mel DenHerder and moved to Vashon, where she broke her neck in a tragic riding accident.She was able to recover enough to work at Swedish Hospital for many years, and to write a book about her life, "Return to Chewelah". She lived with grace, courage and humor despite painful challenges.Janet is survived by her mother, Donna LeBaron, sisters Marie (Michael) Bradley, Julie(Dan) Farmer, Lisa(Tristan) McCoy and her brother Karl(Jennifer) May III.She especially loved her nieces and nephews, her special caregivers and her pets.She was preceded in death by her father, Karl May Jr.
