Kaye was born to Oma F. and Dorena M. Richardson on their farm in McClain County Oklahoma. Nicknamed "Toots" by her grandfather and known by that moniker to all her close family. She met Peter Garlan at a dance in Lexington Oklahoma and immediately knew he was the one. They shared 34 years together.

Kaye was really was a larger than life character; a true free spirit, she asked to be remembered as a "staunch Democrat in a sea of Republicans". Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She found them perfect in every way. In addition to Gareth and Hayden Campbell, her grandchildren; she is survived by her daughter Paula Campbell and son in-law Walter Campbell.

A celebration of life will be held at Vondel Smith & Sons Mortuary, 6934 South Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73139 at 10:00 AM, Saturday December 13th, 2014.
