Marilyn M. Walsh was born in Seattle, Washington in July, 1922 to Kenneth and Pearl McLean.Marilyn was an only child and her mother passed away when she was very young.She spent several years living with relatives after which she went to boarding school at Holy Names Academy.She attended school there for 12 years where she made many lifelong friends.She married Frederick T. Walsh in 1941 and they had 8 children.Marilyn had one stillborn child who she mourned all her life.She and Fred raised their 7 surviving children in the Seattle area, living in Madrona, Madison Park, Vashon Island and Queen Anne.After Fred died Marilyn sold her house on Queen Anne and moved back to First Hill where she grew up.She moved to an assisted living facility 3 A½ years ago just down the street from her condo.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 38 years and her son Michael who died at age 45.Marilyn is survived by her 6 living children, Timothy, Miriam, Gregory, Mary Kate, Maggie and John, 7 grandchildren, Katie, Kate, Lisa, Ian, Jeffrey, John, Michael, Rebecca, Danny, Jimmy, Kelsey and Christopher, 9 grandchildren, Chelsea, Caitlin, Cera, Thomas, Andrea, Julia, Rian, Christina and Hillary.Marilyn brought love and laughter to all she met.She will be missed but leaves a legacy of that love passed on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marilyn's services will be held at St. James Cathedral, 804 9th Ave, Seattle WA.There will be a rosary at 6:15 on Thursday, November 14th and the funeral will be held in the chapel at 10:30.There will be a reception to follow the funeral in the parish all across the street.
