Mildred (Midge) Dean Pedersen passed away after a long illness on October 4, 2014 at Swedish Hospital from pneumonia. Midge was born December 18, 1922 in Smackover, Arkansas to Raydon Flenniken and Maude Clarke Flenniken. She had four siblings; Thomas, Raymond, JC and TO.
After completing high school in Eldorado, Arkansas, Midge joined the US Navy and served in 1944-45 as a Petty Officer, First Class and was secretary to the Chief Nurse. Midge was honorably discharged at the end of the WWII.
Midge lived in Carson City, Nevada for several years and married CR Austin and had two children; Robert Austin and Dana Austin.
She later married Jens O. Pedersen and they were married 37 years and resided on Vashon Island. Midge worked at various Island businesses including K2, the School District, RTS and Peoples National Bank.
Midge and Jens enjoyed travelling the states in their RV, boating with friends visiting her children and reading.
Midge is survived by her husband Jens, her children Robert (Lauri) Austin and Dana (Stanley) Chrystall, one Grandson and one Great Granddaughter, her step-children, Jerry, Jens and Richard Pedersen and Janine Braizerher brother Thomas age 100 and many friends.
Funeral Services were held October 9th at the Vashon Church of Latter Day Saints with burial at the Vashon Cemetery.
