Obituary

Robert Otto Dohm died Sunday November 27, 2022 at his Vashon home. Otto was born in Seattle, Washington, on June 29, 1932, the son of the late Harry W. and Myrtle (Murphy) Dohm, and graduated from Garfield High School, in 1950.

Otto was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in Korea from 1952 to 1953. He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelors degree in Education in 1961, and taught history at Jane Addams Middle School, Louisa Boren Junior High School, and McClure Middle School, retiring in 1986.

Otto loved animals, raising chickens, goats, and many dogs on the island property he shared with his wife, Judy. He was a member of the Tacoma Power Squadron, Chambers Creek Boat Association, and life member of Quartermaster Yacht Club. Otto volunteered for the Athletics Department of Vashon Island High School for more than 30 years, filming football games and keeping score for boys' and girls' basketball games.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry, and sister, Barbara, and his younger son, Erik. Otto is survived by his wife, Judy, his son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Sheryl and granddaughter, Mia, of Oahu.

No memorial service. In lieu of flowers donations to Marine Corp Toys for Tots are suggested.
