Ruth McLeod, a Vashon Island resident for over 50 years, passed away on January 26, 2010 at the age of 96. Born in Vancouver, Canada on July 6, 1913, she was raised in the Seattle area and attended Highline High School where she met her husband, Angus.They celebrated 74 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 27, 2005. Always ready with a cup of tea, Ruth was hospitable to all who came to her home on Quartermaster Harbor.Most of all, she will be remembered for her music.Her love of playing the piano was a source of pleasure to her family and friends.For several years she faithfully played the piano once a week at the Island Nursing Home. Survivors include her four sons: Donald, Ian, Alec and Angus;daughter Joan and her husband Jay Nelson of Ellensburg; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at the Burton Community Church on Friday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m.Memorials may be sent to the Burton Community Church on Vashon Island.
