Obituary

Shirley B. Columbo passed away Friday, February19, 2010 while residing at Evergreen Manor in FederalWay, Washington. Born September 22, 1925 in Ekalaka,Montana, she grew up on the family farm with herbrother and two sisters. After graduating from EkalakaHigh School, Shirley moved to St. Maries, Idahowhere she was employed as a telegrapher for the MilwaukeeRailroad. Here she met and married VincentCharles Carroll. They began their life in St. Maries,spent two years in Butte, Montana and then moved toSpokane, Washington. After the death of her husbandVincent, Shirley and their two children continued toreside in the Spokane Valley. Her marriage to James D.Columbo took place in 1967. They lived happily in theSpokane Valley for 30 years until James passed awayin 1997. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents,Walter and Frances Guyer, husband Vincent CharlesCarroll, husband James D. Columbo, and sister DorothyJ. Plantenberg. She is survived by two children,son, David Carroll and his wife Deborah, of VashonIsland, Washington, and daughter, Diane Carroll ofYardville, New Jersey; four granddaughters and theirspouses: Amanda and Tyler Bledsoe, Bonnie and JoeRydman, Julie and Jeff Mitchell, Deirdre and AnthonyMattina, great grandchildren Rachel Rydman, TessaMattina and Mitch Mitchell.
