Shirley was released from her desperate dance with Dementia on a breezy sunny Northwest morning; the summer solstice. She passed peacefully, and hopefully, onto her next adventure, where her bright, energy may be transformed, as she had always stated, into the form of a Mountain Goat.

In her long life on the Earth as "shirley girl" (a name her father, Harold Osgood gave her), she was the curly blonde sister of Izzy; an early Girl Scout in the first troop of Decatur (Illinois); studied art at Mac Murray College(a girls' school at the time); and became the War Bride of Hilmer C. Landholt.As the mother of two (Barbara and George) she carpooled kids to the Sun n Fun Club, became an active civic leader, and a friend to many of every age, particularly from our front stoop where we watched Sputnik, fireflies (we called Lightning Bugs), and listened to the rain... .

Living independently since Hilmer's death (1988), Shirley traveled and golfed extensively; hiking in the Alps, cruising the Scandinavian fjords, spotting penguins on a flight over Antarctica, learning the tango in South America. She collected friends at yoga, bridge, PEO, in hiking clubs, serving at the Ogelsby Mansion, golfing, and traveling, and where she settled in the Northwest surrounded by "her" favorite mountains.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no ceremony or service. We will release her upon Mt Rainier, a favored hiking place, sometime in the future.
