Clarence and Marie Farris in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in Ludlow, Kentucky,the first of four children, enjoying the outdoors, swimming and gardening. Sheloved to read and cook.!While in high school, Ginny's cousin Charlie introduced her to Paul Ammon.Ginny's first impression was of a "silly young man," but as God had planned, theysoon fell in love, and were married in 1944, a year before the end of World WarII. Paul would spend that year overseas, flying B-24s in the Army Air Corp, whileGin remained stateside and worked as an overseas operator, a pleasant, femalevoice willing to chat with lonely GIs calling home.!After the war, Gin and Paul lived in Kentucky where they had their first twochildren, Ken and Sue. They moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1953 where Paulran a dry cleaning business and Gin bore four more children: Barbara, Joyce,Jeff and Sally. Her love for her family, gentle and long-suffering, and her love forthe Lord, were her most precious legacy. She never turned her back onsomeone in need (including the 4 legged variety). Ginny loved the outdoors. Sheloved to swim, waterski, hike, play in the snow, and sleep outside under the stars.! In 1969, Paul, Gin, and family moved to Vashon Island, Washington, where theyquickly became involved in their church and community. Paul was now astockbroker for Merrill Lynch and Ginny, with her love of books, became thechurch librarian as well as a volunteer at the local thrift store. She kept a largegarden and loved to cook and bake - family gatherings centered with joy aroundthe big dining table, and the kids could always count on a fresh loaf ofhomemade bread cooling on the kitchen counter. She was a skilled seamstressand sewed clothes, quilts, and toys for the kids when they were young. Sheloved to laugh and her kids delighted her. She loved music, singing in the churchchoir and with the family around the piano. She had a servant's heart and awilling spirit, and never failed to hear God's voice.!Once the kids were grown and Paul was retired, she and Paul spent severalyears as volunteer missionaries, traveling to Belgium, Austria, and thePhilippines.!Paul passed away in 1995, and soon after, Ginny moved from Vashon back toCoeur d'Alene to live out her days in quiet service to the Lord. Her favoriteministry in those days was combing the thrift and second-hand stores for Bibleswhich she gathered in boxes to pass along to whoever needed one.!Ginny went home to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father Saturday, May 3,2014. She was 89.!Virginia Ammon is survived by her six children, Ken (Kristi) Ammon, Coeurd'Alene, Idaho; Susan (Don) Smith, Vashon, Washington; Barbara (Frank)Peretti, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Joyce (Mark) Brandmire, Forks, Washington; JeffAmmon and Sally Ammon, Vashon, Washington; 9 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, a brother, Jerry Farris, Modesto, California, and a sister, JackieFarris, Ludlow, Kentucky.!She was the best mother a family could ever be blessed with, imparting to herchildren her kindness, love, honesty, smile, goodness, and patience.
