Donna Lund, wife, mother, grandmother, and care-giver, passed away at the age of 78, on March 14, 2021 after a short illness. She was born on May 8, 1942 in Butte, Montana to Joseph and Helen Brown and shortly thereafter moved to West Seattle where the family owned and operated the White Spot Cafe.
After graduating from Holy Rosary in 1960, Donna worked at the St. Vincent Nursing Home in West Seattle and then married Franklin Lund in 1961. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Vashon Island, where they have resided ever since. While on Vashon, Donna attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Group and found great solace in all religious services. She was a volunteer with the American Hero quilting program and worked at K-2 for over 15 years.
Donna is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Frank; son Tony; daughter, Mary Rosenow and her husband Todd; two grandchildren - grandson, Jacob Rosenow and granddaughter, Erica Rosenow. She is also survived by her loyal canine companion, Lucy.
The family expresses their deep appreciation and gratitude to the Vashon Island Fire and Rescue, the doctors and nursing staff at St. Anne Hospital and at St. Joseph Medical Center, and to our cherished friends, both on and off the island.
A funeral service was held on Saturday March 20, 2021 at St. John Vianney Church on Vashon Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Donna’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Backpack Pantry at St. John Vianney, or the Vashon-Maury Community Food Bank.
